This oil Painting is signed by Paul E. Saling, a Salmamugundi Art Club artist. Saling was an early 20th century American artist known primarily for his landscape and marine subjects. He was born in Germany in 1876. He lived most of his life in the Eight Mile River Valley area Connecticut, where he died in 1936. He arrived in the United States at the age of 17 via Ellis Island. He is something of a local hero in Lyme, CT. There is information about the painting on the back. This is a beautiful painting!
